The Meeting of Charley Parish Council scheduled for 6th May 2020 will not now take place neither will the Annual Parish Meeting. Government legislation in the present Covid 19 situation allows the Annual Parish Meeting to be cancelled until 2021 but Parish Council meetings are to go ahead using remote video technology. Mount St Bernard Abbey

Yesterday, Father Joseph, Abbot of Mount St Bernard, announced the death of Father John Moakler aged 92 years. Father John was Abbot from 1982 to 2001. He died peacefully after several years of impaired health. In accordance with the current restrictions there will be no public funeral but a Memorial Service will be held when permitted. May he rest in peace.

Road works - more information

The latest information, below, from Highways is that there is likely to be disruption in and around Charley for some time to come. A website gives complete details but will not list any works carried out as an emergency. The Abbey Road closure listed seems to be intermittent so it will have to be a 'try it and see' situation.
